Indian orphanage to benefit from glamorous ball in Trim Castle Hotel
RTE presenter and top celebrity stylist, Darren Kennedy, was master of ceremonies at the recent inaugural Indian Ball at Trim Castle Hotel. The aim of the event was to raise vital funds for the children's Orphanage in Bangalore, India, which provides a home to approximately 26 young girls, ranging in age from four to 14 years, and provides additional services and care to help visually impaired children. The glamorous evening commenced with a champagne reception, followed by dinner, after which a charity auction and raffle took place. Best dressed lady on the night went to local beautician Aine Swan who won a shopping spree at the exclusive Design boutique. Guests later danced the night away to the sounds of top Irish band Topical Storm. Others who attended the event included Karen O'Shea-Lyons, daughter of GOAL's John O'Shea; socialite Roisin Tierney-Crowe, publicist Norman Pratt, and Louise Osbourne, daughter-in-law of Ozzy Osbourne. Longwood woman and event organiser Marita Lyons, one of many Meath people to have raised money for the orphanage since a trust fund was established in 1980, said that they are currently looking to renovate various parts of the building and improve conditions for the orphans. "I would like to thank everyone who supported and came along to the event and it is because of their generosity we can now make a real difference to lives of these young children. We have a number of projects in mind which we want to complete," she added. "These include a kitchen expansion, an extra bathroom and toilet facility, two extra water heaters and computer software for the visually impaired students."
