Tara student claims top accountancy award

Niall McGuone, from Oberstown, Tara, has won the Ernst and Young (E&Y) prize for top accountancy student in second year BA Finance and Accounting at NUI Maynooth. A past student of St Patrick's Classical School in Navan, Niall is in his final year of a BA degree and will be joining PWC to complete his training as a chartered accountant next year. There are presently 300 students on the BA Finance and Accounting degree programme at the University and 40 students completing a MA in Accounting. All the leading professional firms including PWC, E&Y, KPMG and Deloitte attended the prizegiving and showcase, as well as the Irish accounting and taxation institutes. The keynote address at the accountancy showcase in Maynooth was delivered by Tom Kavanagh, partner in Kavanagh Fennell and a leading corporate recovery expert.
