Kells Gardai seize cocaine worth €14k in Kells raid
Gardai seized €14,000 worth of cocaine in a raid at a house in Balrath area of Kells on Monday night. One man was arrested and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The seizure was the result of a planned search by the Kells Garda crime branch and drugs unit. Gardai in Kells are investigating a break-in at the Aldi supermarket in the town in the early hours of Saturday morning. Three men wearing balaclavas broke into the premises on the Cavan Road at around 1.20am and got away with a cash sum. Gardai are examining CCTV coverage of the incident. Gardai are also investigating an incident in which a taximeter was stolen from a minibus which was parked in Carlanstown in the early hours of Sunday morning last. Kells Gardai are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact them on (046) 924 0999. A small sum of cash was stolen from the St Vincent De Paul Hall in Kells between midnight on Saturday and 7.30am on Sunday morning. A rear door was forced open. Gardai are also investigating an incident in which a door and window were broken in a teleporter machine at Loughan, Moynalty, last weekend. Meanwhile, Gardai in Oldcastle are appealing for information into an incident in which a Chevrolet SUV was burned out in the town on Sunday night last. The vehicle had been parked at Cobblers Row in the town at around 9.30pm when the incident occurred. The gardai are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact them on (049) 854 1102.
