Mrs Pauline Lynch, Tandarra, Lagore Road, Ratoath, who has died, was well known in the locality as lollipop lady at Ratoath National School for 25 years. She was also a scout leader in Ratoath for a quarter of a century. Aged 62, Mrs Lynch (nee Cundall) passed away at her home on 28th January last. She was wife of Michael (Skipper) Lynch, and is also survived by her sons, Sean and Justin; grandchildren, Vicki and Justin Paul Lynch, Michael Crawley and Callum Lynch, and other relatives, neighbours and friends, all of whom will sadly miss her. The funeral took place from Holy Trinity Church, Ratoath, to the local cemetery. _____________________________________________________________ Criss Casey, Navan Mrs Criss Casey, Balreask Old, Navan, who died on 4th February last, was a member of the Morris family, Navan. Aged 64, she will be remembered as a lady who always had a smile on her face. She is survived by her husband, Matthew; sons, Pat and Matthew; daughters, Ruth, Noeleen and Sarah; grandchildren, Luke and Jack; and other family members, relatives, neighbours and friends. The funeral took place from St Mary's Church, Navan, to St Mary's Cemetery. _____________________________________________________________ Margaret Courtney, Kilmainhamwood There was great sadness over a wide area at the recent death of Mrs Margaret Courtney, Boynagh, Kilmainhamwood, Kells at Kilmainhamwood Nursing Home, at the age of 79. Deceased, who was originally Margaret Farrell from Carlow, was a retired postmistress and was predeceased by her husband, James, in 2007. She retired from An Post in November 2001 after almost 40 years of dedicated service to An Post and the local community. She also served on various committees over the years and was highly regarded for her overall contribution to the parish and community. Mrs Courtney is survived by her daughters, Colette Crawley, Carrickmacross, Mary Courtney-Kellett, Baileboro, Tina Gilsenan, Kilmainhamwood; and her son Patrick, USA. Her remains were removed to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Kilmainhamwood, and the funeral took place to the adjoining cemetery. _____________________________________________________________ Kieran Johnson, Skryne Mr Kieran Johnson, Scalestown, Dunshaughlin, who died on New Year's Day, was the last surviving member of a well-known sporting family in the area. Aged 82, he was a retired builder labourer. Deceased played for Skryne in the senior football championship finals of 1951 and 1952. He played hurling for Oberstown, Ratoath and St Patrick's, a combination of Oberstown, Ratoath, Kilmessan, Kiltale and Dunshaughlin, and won a senior championship with that side in 1953. Mr Johnson was affectionately known as 'The Guy' and was also a member of Skryne Pitch and Putt club. He is survived by his nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. The funeral took place from St Colmcille's Church, Skryne, to the adjoining cemetery. _____________________________________________________________ Mary Jo Doherty, Ballivor Much sadness was occasioned by the death of Mrs Mary Jo Doherty (nee Brennan), Hazelwood, Ballivor, who passed away on 28th January at St Elizabeth's Nursing Home, Athboy. Mrs Doherty (84) was a native of Arva, Co Cavan, and was a retired chemist. She is survived by her husband, Ted; sons, Pat and Terence; daughters, Therese, Bernadette and Josephine; brother, Liam, and sisters, Vera and Kathleen. The funeral took place from St Columbanus's Church, Ballivor, to Corowea Cemetery, Co Cavan.
