'Anything Goes' set to sail in Trim
Trim Musical Society is set to sail with this year's musical production 'Anything Goes'. This hilarious musical based on the book by PG Woodhouse with the music of Cole Porter is a must see for music and drama lovers alike and sure to bring a smile to any face. Set on board the SS American sailing from New York to England,carries an unusual group of passengers amongst them is the gangster Moonface Martin, played by Niall Dempsey with Louise Cassidy as his sexy moll, Erma. A wealthy debutant and her mother, Hope and Evangeline Harcourt, are played by Siobhan Mooney and Gwen Bagnall. Jenny Seery plays the part of the night club singer Reno Sweeney, an amazing all-singing, all-dancing role and every girls musical dream and one Jenny is loving along with her four angels, Erin Kenny, Joanne Barry, Emma Stowe and Joanne Kennedy. On board also is a wealthy New York businessman and his stowaway assistant (Elisha Whitney and Billy Crocker) played by Cormac O'Reilly and John Fagan. It turns out that Hope is Billy's long lost love. Unfortunately she is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakley (Gareth Mahony). This hilarious comic role is guaranteed to have audiences in kinks of laughter. After a series of happenings on board the effect is comic and very tuneful with well known songs like 'I Get a Kick Out of You', 'Friendship' 'You're the Top' and of course the title song 'Anything Goes', not forgetting tap dancing as good as in any Broadway show. An amazing cast of passengers and crew are on board the ship including newcomer to Trim Musical Society, Richard Harahill, as the captain. 'Anything Goes' is directed by Alan Kinsella, with Jane Lynch as musical director, and Grace McGrath as choreographer. Tickets are €10 and €14 thereafter with group concessions. Anything Goes starts Tuesday the 24th to Sunday 28th, nightly at 8pm in Trim Town Hall.
