Kilskyre gets new Cairde Rince branch

After a very successful series of adult céilí dancing classes in Kilskyre Hall, a branch of Cairde Rince Céilí na hÉireann has been set up in Kilskyre. National chairman and teacher of the class, Tom Marry, chaired the election of officers and an enthusiastic committee was elected on Tuesday night of last week, consisting of chairman Aidan Mc Cabe, vice-chairperson Agnes McCabe, secretary Anne Marie Grall, joint treasurers Margaret Byrne and Mary Morris, PRO Kate Brady, and committee member Mary Smith. As the branch is located in the birthplace of the late local poet and lover of all things Irish, Brian O'Higgins, it was decided that the club would be known as Brian O'Higgins Cairde Rince Céilí na hÉireann, Kilskyre. The club will continue to organise adult céilí dancing classes every Tuesday night at 8pm, to which newcomers are always welcome. The club is also planning its first fíor chéilí for Friday 30th April at 9.30pm with music by the Tara Céilí Band.
