Peace Group's spring seminar in Dalgan Park

The Meath Peace Group's Spring Seminar is scheduled for Saturday 17th April in St Columban's College, Dalgan park, Navan. The overall theme of the seminar is 'Identity' and the sessions will focus on historical as well as contemporary aspects with speakers from Northern Ireland political parties and other groups as well as speakers from the Republic. Details will be announced nearer to the date. The seminar is open to the public but it is essential to register - by telephone to Julitta Clancy on (01) 825 9438 or email meathpeace@hotmail.com Since the Meath Peace Group suspended its long-running public talks series at the end of 2007, the group has concentrated on a number of other areas of their work in building understanding and reconciliation. The youth empowerment programme is currently running in four secondary schools in Meath and Kildare (comprising over 250 students and including workshops, guest speakers and study visits North and South), shared heritage study (visits and discussions with NI groups to various heritage sites in Northern Ireland and the border counties and also to centres and sites in Meath and Louth), and participation in a range of events organised by various groups North and South, in particular the dialogue work of the cross-border, cross-community group, the Guild of Uriel, based in Co Louth. In addition, the group has assisted in the delivery of modules on reconciliation and peace-building to members of community and heritage groups in Northern Ireland. The group also made a submission to the Northern Ireland Office consultation process on 'Dealing with the past', arising out of the seminar held in Dalgan Park, Navan, last April.
