Ashbourne hosts TradAsh festival
This weekend Ashbourne will be ignited as the town's very first 'TradAsh Music Festival' kicks off. The weekend will host, celebrate and encourage traditional Irish music and is open to everyone to join in, participate and enjoy. The festival will also include a 'Guinness Book of World Records' attempt in Donaghmore-Ashbourne GAA Club's indoor arena on Sunday 25th April at 5pm. This is to be an inclusive event and the committee invites all marching bands, pipe bands, children, parents and grandparents to turn up and join in on the day and make this attempt a huge success and a joint achievement for all who participate. wInn, Ballymadun, 8pm. Come join in the session at this open fire pub just two minutes outside Ashbourne (off the Garristown Road). A complimentary lift home is available for all those living in the local area. Saturday 24th at Donaghmore-Ashbourne GAA Club, 8pm. The state-of-the-art clubhouse will host the Saturday night traditional session in the main bar. Additionally, there will be an 'Open Microphone Unplugged Night' in the club function room for any budding musicians would like to promote their material. Sunday 25th at 12.30pm at Fox's Den on Ashbourne's Main Street. This venue is steeped in trad music and will host the Sunday morning music session starting at 12.30pm. Be part of history on Sunday 25th for the Guinness Book of World Records Attempt for 'The Largest Number of Musicians playing the Irish National Anthem Simultaneously'. The event will take place at 5pm in the GAA club's indoor arena. Registration will commence at 3pm, and all participating musicians must register to be counted. All musicians of all age groups are very welcome to participate. The World Record attempt will be performed in the Key of D.
