Teenager in court over Athboy stabbing incident

A youth appeared at Navan District Court yesterday (Tuesday) morning charged in relation to a stabbing incident in Athboy over the weekend. The teenager was charged with assault, causing harm, following an incident at Connaught Street in Athboy in the early hours of Sunday morning, during which a woman in her 60s is understood to have sustained a number of stab wounds. The victim was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she was treated for her injuries. A hospital spokesperson described her condition as stable. Gardai in Kells immediately launched an investigation and questioned a youth at Kells Garda Station on Monday. A teenager appeared at a sitting of Navan Court the following morning charged in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, a businesswoman in her 40s endured a terrifying ordeal when two masked males forced their way into her Enfield home on Tuesday of last week. The incident occurred at Waterton Court, Enfield, at 3.30am on Tuesday of last week as the victim was coming home from work. As she entered her home, she was confronted by two masked men who forced their way into her home and left a brief struggle. It is understood they made off with a small amount of cash. The woman was shaken by the ordeal but was uninjured. The incident is being investigated by local Gardai and anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact Enfield or Trim Garda Stations.
