Danielle Deporto, whose mother hails from Stamullen, is hoping to become Bahrain's next top model.

Model with Meath roots in Bahrain final

The daughter of a Stamullen woman has reach the final of Bahrain's Top Model 2010 and is seeking text votes to help her win the competition. Danielle Doporto was born and raised in the Kingdom of Bahrain and is a daughter of Madeleine Whyte from Stamullen and Michael Doporto from Booterstown, Co Dublin. She is one of three contenders to reach the finals of the annual competition, thanks to her modelling versatility and popularity. One model has been eliminated each month since January based on judges' votes and votes from the public, who are invited to text the name of the girl they prefer. Danielle's mother, Madeleine, has lived in Bahrain since the early 1980s while her father, Michael, first set foot on the island when his father accepted a job as one of the country's first doctors in the 1960s. Having been educated in Bahrain and Ireland, Danielle then trekked down under to Australia to complete a Business Degree at Macquarie University in Sydney, for which she received first class honours. Now working as a marketing and development executive for an international property investment company, she spends her free time modelling on the catwalk, in photoshoots and at high-profile events in the kingdom. She is also making a name for herself on the regional social scene as a social columnist, event planner/promoter and dancer, which are fields she is interested in pursuing more seriously and internationally.
