Gas for Kells in 18 months

As planning continues for the new gas pipeline to Kells, Bord Gáis Energy is marking reaching one million customers by offering €100,000 in energy grants to community groups nationwide. The countdown is on for community groups in Meath to apply for energy grants from the fund. There will be one grant of €25,000, five of €10,000 and 10 of €2,500 worth of energy awarded to successful applicants to the Community Energy Fund. Applications for the Community Energy Fund are available now from local libraries and are downloadable online from www.bordgaisenergy.ie. Applications close on Wednesday next, 16th June. Meanwhile, businesses and households in Kells could be connected to the gas pipeline in as little as 18 months following an announcement earlier this year that the gas network is to be extended to the north Meath town. A review was carried out in the area recently and, subject to Meath County Council approval and local business requirements, customers can expect natural gas to be available in the town in approximately 18 months.
