Slane man Ronan Wogan has raised over €7,000 running marathons in the last year.

Marathon man's €1,800 for children's hospital

Slane athlete Ronan Wogan recently completed the London Marathon, raising €1,800 for Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin, in the process. Ronan had already raised €5,500 for Crumlin Hospital late last year by completing the New York Marathon. Around €30,000 was raised by runners in the London Marathon for the new St John's cardiac unit that will be built for sick children in Crumlin. Ronan ran the London event in the same time as he finished the New York marathon - three hours and 10 mins and is now preparing to run the Berlin Marathon in September. He had difficulty getting to London due to the ash cloud at the time and had to go by ferry and train from Holyhead to London, but he says it was worth it for the sake of the children who rely on the hospital. Ronan said he decided to undertake the challenge because of the way budget cuts were impacting on the hospital.
