Trim singers embark on US visit
Having recently launched Trim's Swift Festival with a stunning performance in the keep of Trim Castle, the Trim Castle Singers are currently rehearsing for their forthcoming trip to Rhode Island in the United States on 19th July as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations. The choir is being hosted by renowned liturgical composer, Tom Kendzia, who presented a very successful workshop to the choir recently, which was sponsored by Meath Leader. The Trim choir has gained considerable exposure over the last number of years. Among some its more memorable ventures were performing with the RTE Concert Orchestra in the National Concert Hall, as well as with the French Army Choir in France. At home, the choir has raised many thousands of euro for various charities since its inception. Much in demand, the choir's director, Jane Lynch, attributes its success to its versatility. The choir's repertoire embraces various genres, including Jazz, Broadway, Celtic and classical. Within its ranks are past and present members of Trim Musical Society, many of whom are recipents of AIMS awards. These include Fionnuala Ennis, Mick Miley, John Fagan, Colin Kelly, Gwen Bagnall and Louise Cassidy, all of whom will perform solo in Rhode Island. The accompanist for the trip is Vincent Lynch. Having sung in the past with Anuna for four years, his support - both instrumentally and vocally - will undoubtedly be called upon. The choir is looking forward to the busy programme ahead with a concert scheduled in Attleboro and Kingston, as well as at least two house charity concerts.
