Sporting and intercultural activities at Kells Youth Club
Meath Youth Federation's Kells Youth Club enjoyed a long night's fishing with the help and support of the Kells Anglers Fishing Club. Cathaoirleach of Kells Town Council, Cllr Conor Ferguson, who also volunteers for the club, organised the evening at Maudlin River. Some 19 young lads, aged from 13 to 17 years-old, learned how to fly fish. Plenty of fish were caught and some of them have been invited to join the junior Kells Anglers Club MYF volunteer Cara Shipp, youth club member Joe Power and parent Patrick Peppard dished out some very tasty treats for all. It is hoped to make this a regular event and well-known fisherman Pat McLoughlin has offered to give further lessons to members. A big thank you went from the federation to everyone who helped to make this one of the most enjoyable youth club nights to date. Two teams from the Kells Youth Club took part in the Meath Partnership Culture Cup held in Mosney on Saturday 24th July. Kells Senior Team 'Chile' came first in its age group, bringing home the cup. In the weeks before the blitz, the young people explored some of the many different cultures and traditions of other nationalities. During the blitz, the young people had a chance to meet new friends and had great fun. Congratulations went to the Mosney Junior Team who came first in their age group. Special thanks also went to Dessie and Deko Smith of Masita, Kells, who sponsored jerseys.
