Dempsey has always delivered for constituency

Dear sir - In interest of fair play, clearly the lifetime of good work being done by Minister Dempsey has somehow being forgotten in the heat of the moment. Clearly there were mitigating circumstances with department officals and various agencies but Minister Dempsey has apparently now humbly acknowledged, as a Meath politican of "courage and consequence", that he was wrong to fly to the MacGill Summer School in Donegal. Consequently he has taken on the chin, the brunt of the unprecendented discontentment being currently experienced by many in Meath in the form of unemployment, negative equity, and emigration. No doubt Meath is in the mist of an economic and political implosion, but if we look at Noel Dempsey's track record, over 33 years, as a Meath elected politican since 1977, it becomes very obvious from a dispassionate viewpoint, that this man has never being noted to being in the category of politican "shamelessly enjoying near criminal self -indulegence" at the taxpayers' expense. The evidence of Minister Dempsey is that he has always delivered down the years for Meath as minister for transport, environment, education and as a TD. I don't have a crystal ball but judging by all the media political polls, Taoiseach Brian Cowen will no doubt be replaced as leader of Fianna Fail before or immediately after the next general election if the fiery political issue of the economy is not comprehensively addressed. Yours, Gerard O'Brien, Whislemount, Kells Road, Navan.
