Zoom time for primary schools sports achievers
Meath primary schools are set to benefit from a special promotion by the Meath Chronicle and Newgate Mazda which will generate lots of enthusiasm amongst pupils returning to classrooms across the Royal County after the well-earned summer holidays. The Meath Chronicle in conjunction with Newgate Mazda in Navan this week launches the 2010 / 2011 Primary Schools Sports Achievers awards. Every month until March 2011, the adjudicating committee will select three finalists from nominations received who will each receive a plaque. The monthly winner will also receive a €250 sports voucher for his/her school. The final in March will see one overall winner selected, who will receive a bike with safety helmet and a €2,000 sports voucher for his/her school. "We are delighted to launch this initiative to promote the importance of participation in sports," commented Newgate Mazda Dealer Principal Jim Ring. "We want to reward not only children's achievements, but also the schools who provide facilities and resources for our children to get involved in physical exercise "It's not the winning that matters, it's the taking part that counts, whether your child is a star on the pitch, a dedicated team supporter or a worker in the background, we want to hear from you," added the Newgate Mazda boss. "This is an ideal opportunity to recognise children who make a big effort to get involved in sporting activities at school," commented Meath Chronicle Sports Editor Conall Collier. "Every year I see children involved in sport, individually and with teams, and it's obvious that taking part is as important as success, this promotion provides an opportunity for adults to recognise that through an innovative nomination process," he added. The selection process will be divided across three categories, small, medium and large schools which is designed to provide a fair balance for the adjudicating committee. The promotion will cover six months from September until February in the build-up to the final next March. Newgate Mazda is encouraging parents and schools to nominate individuals who give their all to be involved in sport - on or off the pitch. The competition is open to primary school pupils aged 12 and younger on 30th September this year. There will be monthly prizes of €250 sports kit vouchers and the competition will culminate in the final next March, where the overall winner will receive a top of the range bicycle while his/her school will scoop a €2000 sports voucher. Each month for September, October, November, December, January and February, three monthly nominees will be selected from entries received and one overall winner per month will be chosen by the adjudicating committee. At the monthly awards, which will be held at Newgate Motors, each nominee will receive a plaque and one will be declared the overall winner for that month and receive the €250 sports kit voucher. The 18 nominees, selected over the next six months, will go forward to the final next March when the adjudicating committee will choose the overall winner. The September awards will be presented at Newgate Mazda at the beginning of October. The closing date for nominations for the September awards is Friday, 24th September. Nominations received after that date will be allocated to the other dates. Selections for September and December will be confined to small schools, October and January (medium) and November and February (large). Nominations may be submitted at any time. The entry form (included on this page) will be printed regularly in the Meath Chronicle. Entrants are encouraged to complete the form and leave it into the Mazda showroom at Newgate Motors, Navan or the Meath Chronicle office. Forms that are photocopied will not be accepted. * Committed to offering customers the highest level of product and service, Newgate Motor Company, Navan, Co. Meath, was established in 1990.
