Kells Karate Association flourishing

The growing popularity of karate throughout the country has seen the discipline become a part of society in most communities and Kells is no different as one of the most successful clubs in the county continues to flourish. Kells Wado-Kai Karate Association has been active for over 20 years and is run by Sensei Eamonn Yore who is currently a fifth Dan black belt. The club has built up a strong group of up to 60 students who range in ages from five year olds to 50 year olds. The classes are friendly, but structured and disciplined. They offer students a robust aerobic/cardio workout which will help improve overall fitness, balance, co-ordination and concentration while learning the traditional art of Karate and Self Defence. Karate is beneficial to all age groups and fitness levels. It is also particularly useful for confidence building in children. This year saw Kells Wado-Kai Karate Association formulising a partnership with the head of England Wado-Kai, Barry Wilkinson (seventh Dan). A very successful two day Wado-Kai training seminar was hosted in Kells with Sensei Wilkinson and was attended by several prominent national karate clubs. The classes at the Kells club which is based in the upstairs room of Kells Handball Club, Church Lane, Kells are: Junior class - Tuesday and Thursday, 6.0 to 7.0; Graded class - Tuesday and Thursday, 7.0 to 8.0; Senior class - Tuesday and Thursday, 7.30 to 8.45.For more information, contact Eamonn Yore (087) 6545046, kellskarate@gmail.com or visit www.kellswado-kaikarateassociation.com.
