The death occurred on 21st August last of Mrs Rita Rogers, Abbeylands, Navan. Mrs Rogers (nee Dardis) passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. She was wife of the late Eddie Rogers, solicitor, of the Rogers and Byron law firm. She was also predeceased by her son, Frank and grandson, Cillian; and is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandra; grandson, Tadhg; sister, Una; sisters-in-law Mary and Marie (Dardis), nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Mary's Church, Navan, to St Mary's Cemetery. She was also predeceased in late July by her brother, Mr Seamus Dardis, Cushenstown, Garristown, whose funeral took place from St Cianan's Church, Duleek to Crossmacole Cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Kathleen Madden, Dunshaughlin The death occurred on 6th August last of Mrs Kathleen Madden of the well-known Dunshaughlin business family. She passed away at Kilbrew Nursing Home, Curraha, in her 90th year, Deceased, a member of the Gogan family, also of Dunshaughlin, was wife of the late Willie Madden and mother of Peter, Joseph, John, the late Declan and Rosemary, and is also survived by her daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral Mass took place at the Church of Ss Patrick and Seachnaill, Dunshaughlin, followed by burial in the local cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Maureen Moran, Ratoath Mrs Maureen Moran, Ratoath, who died suddenly on 31st May last at James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown, was wife of the former deputy garda commissioner P J Moran. She was mother to Paul Moran, a senior garda officer who became the first to be seconded to join the Police Service of Northern Ireland with full powers earlier this year, one of a series of measures in an inter-government agreement signed in 2002. Mrs Moran (nee McManus) is survived by her husband, PJ; family, Colm, Paul, Deirdre and Padraic; grandchildren, Katie, Conor, Aisling, Oisin and Callum; brother Paul (Cootehill), daughters-in-law, Eimear, Stephanie and Fiona; son-in-law, Eddie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral took place from the Holy Trinity Church, Ratoath, to Ratoath Cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Elizabeth Berry, Longford The death occurred on 27th August last of Mrs Elizabeth Berry, Dring, Co Longford, mother of former jockey Frank Berry and of Carmel Fay of Fay's Bookmakers, Kilmessan. Mrs Berry's son Frank rode in the era of Tommy Carberry, and they battled it out for many jockeys' championships in the 1970s, with Berry taking 10 titles and sharing with Carberry at one stage. His son, Fran, is a leading flat jockey. Carmel Fay and her husband Paul run Fay's bookmakers, which has a branch in Kilmessan. Mrs Berry (nee Caffrey), who was predeceased by her husband, Frank, is survived by her family, Frank (Kilcullen), Paddy (Dring), Carmel Fay (Granard), Bernie Flynn (Rosslare), Mairéad Higgins (Granard) and Teresa Sheehy (Dring); sons-in-law; daughters-in-law; grandchildren; brothers; sisters; nieces; nephews; relatives and a large circle of friends. The funeral took place from St Colmcille's Church, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford, to the adjoining cemetery.
