Obituaries 25-09-2010
There was widespread sadness following the death of Mr Ken Whitmore, Cluain Ri, Trim, and formerly of Maudlins. Aged 65, deceased was a native of Doncaster, England, and passed away at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. When in his 20s, and living with his parents and sister and brother in Doncaster, Yorkshire, he met his wife, Irishwoman Vera, and started married life in Doncaster with daughters Allison and Michelle. They decided that the green hills of Meath were calling them and they moved to Trim in the early 1970s, where they built a family home at Maudlins. A few years later, son Paul arrived to complete the family. Mr Whitmore was very skilled and could turn his hand to anything. He worked for over 30 years in Trimproof, and part time in the evenings at St Michael's Christian Brothers School, Trim. Deceased helped out anyone who needed his plumbing, electrical and maintenance skills. Mr Whitmore's family and friends were his life, and he helped in the caring and parenting of his grandchildren, spending his retirement doing school runs, attending children's football matches and out-of-school activities, up until his illness. He is survived by his wife, Vera; son, Paul, Ennis, Co Clare; daughters, Allison Walton and Michelle Smith, Trim; grandchildren, Loren, Eleanor, and Joshua Walton, Conor and Katie Smith and Ava Whitmore, Trim. The funeral took place from St Patrick's Church, Trim, to St Loman's Cemetery. A month's mind Mass will be offered on Sunday 10th October at 9am in St Patrick's Church. _____________________________________________________________ Gerard Lynch, Bellewstown and Beauparc Mr Gerard (Gerry) Lynch (44), Bellewstown and formerly of Dollardstown, Beauparc, passed away suddenly on Monday 9th August at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, after a bravely borne illness. Born in England in 1965, the son of the late James (Jimmy) Lynch and his wife Eileen (nee Cahill), he spent his formative years with his family in north London. It was here, growing up near the streets of Highbury, that he began his life-long support of Arsenal Football Club - the love of which he shared with his father and passed on to his son. In 1979 he moved to Navan with his family and finished his secondary education in St Patrick's Classical School, excelling in art. He completed his education at The College of Marketing and Design where he obtained his degree in marketing. On leaving college, he gained employment with McCann & Byrne, Navan, and then with Griffin Foods, Dublin, where he spent the rest of his career. He met his future wife Michele (nee Ring) in 1989 and the couple soon married and settled in Bellewstown where they welcomed their son, Ben, born in 1995. Gerard quickly settled into life in the local community, becoming a successful manager at the Cloghertown United Football Club. A lover of the finer things in life, he enjoyed good food, travel, film and was a talented photographer. He developed a passion for music at an early age and enjoyed listening to a diverse range of artists from his extensive collection. This music was a great source of comfort to him during his final days. Married to wife Michele for 19 years, he will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a caring son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Meeting difficult challenges both in life and in facing death, Gerard dealt with them heroically yet unassumingly and with a sharp wit. He maintained his zest for life, commitment to his family and career and achieved an extraordinary amount in such a short life. He will remain an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. Deceased is survived in addition to his wife Michele and son Ben, by his mother, Eileen; sisters, Corinna, Emma and Debbie; brother David; parents-in-law, Michael and Marie Ring; sister-in-law, Karen; brothers-in-law, Paul, Darren, Kenneth, Philip, John and Jonathan; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives.
