Comedian Jarlath Regan.

Regan's 'Stand and Deliver' in Backroom

Backroom Laughs returns to the Lantern Bar in Navan on Saturday 25th September headlined by Jarlath Regan and featuring support from an array of other award-winning acts. Regan is regarded as the fastest rising star of Irish comedy, and first stood on stage in 2004 when he was selected as a finalist in the BBC and Channel 4 new comedy awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His debut solo Edinburgh show 'Nobody Knows…Jarlath Regan' earned rave reviews from the Scottish press and was the subject of a documentary series on TV3. His 2008 show was a sell-out. He has supported Ardal O'Hanlon, Jason Byrne and David O'Doherty on their tours of Ireland. Jarlath is a regular at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs Comedy Festival and the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal where he appeared alongside Tommy Tiernan in the first ever 'Best of Irish' televised gala. He has appeared on numerous tv shows including 'The Panel' and 'The Apprentice: You're Fired'. He will soon return to our screens on new RTE comedy show 'Stand & Deliver'. Support acts include Robbie Bonham, crowned 98FM's Dublin's Best Comedian and a regular headliner in both Dublin and Galway's Laughter Lounge, as well as most comedy clubs around the country. He also performs regularly in the UK, in clubs such as The Stand, and has gigged as support to acts like Reginald D Hunter, Jim Jeffries, Doug Stanhope, Brendon Burns, and Steve Hughes, to name, well... some of the cooler ones. The line-up is completed by Michael Downey, a former finalist of some of the world's most prestigious comedy competitions including the BBC New Comedy Award and Channel 4's 'So You Think You're Funny'. The hotly tipped Tallaght man Ian Perth will also perform a short spot. Monday Night Soccer's Alan Gernon will again provide the MC duties. Tickets are available for €10 (€8 with concessions) from The Lantern and E-Two Music, with pre-purchase of tickets advised. Sponsors Ludlow Street eatery Copper & Spices are also offering a recession-busting four- course meal and gig ticket for just €25. Call (046) 906 0648 to reserve your table. The gig kicks off at 9.30pm but be there early as tickets are selling fast.
