Butler gets chair of Trim Area Council
Trim councillor Ray Butler has been elected as chairperson of the Trim Area Council, taking over from Cllr Jimmy Fegan. Cllr Butler was elected to the position at the Trim Area Council meeting on Monday of last week. He said: "It is a great honour to be area chairman after being elected to the council 12 months ago. The first 12-13 months have been a learning curve but we have got a lot of work done in the Trim area despite the constraints in budget, but we have more to do." The Fine Gael councillor said road repairs had been done, though their budget was down by 10-20 per cent, and said there are a few estates in the Trim area where footpaths needed to be maintained, roads surfaced and estates finished off. In the villages of Longwood, Kildalkey, Ballivor and Clonard, he said water shortages remained the main concern.
