Cllrs to examine cost of wall at O'Growney Terrace

Kells Town Council is to consider the provision of a low wall at O'Growney Terrace in the forthcoming budget estimates, after receiving a letter from residents concerning about safety issues. Cllr Brian Curran told a meeting of the town council it was important to look at the possibility and it should be considered in the budget. Cllr Sean Drew said that, from a safety point of view, he was fully supportive of what the residents were looking for. Cllr Tommy Grimes suggested that the engineer undertake a costing for the project. Cllr Conor Ferguson said there were people who want the wall built, but others who are opposed it, and he asked if some accommodation could be made. Cllr Drew said he was driving by one day when a football went across the road and the children came running after it. Cllr Curran said they needed to try and get mutual agreement and then get estimates. Cllr Frankie Lynch said their first thought had to be with the children. People were worried about safety, said Cllr Oliver Sweeney, and he hoped they could sort out a general agreement. Cllr Sarah Reilly said it was important to put something there to stop children running out onto the roadway.
