Nobber man to run marathon for CF charity
Nobber native Enda O'Carolan will take part in the New York Marathon on Sunday 7th November. He is raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland and has raised over €3000 so far for the charity. The Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland (CFAI) was set up in 1963 to increase knowledge and awareness of CF and to give advice and support to people with cystic fibrosis and their families. Enda, who is busy training and preparing for the event, will be among 45,000 participants in the marathon. In addition to the €3,000 he has already raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland, he will raise a further €2,000 to achieve his target. Currently a Mullingar resident and a pharmaceutical representative for Johnson & Johnson covering north Leinster for the company, he organised a number of events including a 5km fun run in May in Mullingar and a table quiz in the local Greville Arms Hotel in June. The New York Marathon starts at the Brooklyn Bridge and finishes in Central Park, passing through the five boroughs of New York. "The reason I am taking part in the marathon is that a friend of mine died from cystic fibrosis back in 2007. I always wanted to do something in her memory and for the charity," he said. Anyone who would like to donate towards Enda's fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland can do so through his National Irish Bank account number: 92798611, sort code 951698.
