Widespread regret was occasioned following the death of Mrs Margaret (Mags) Foylan (nee Tully) of Griffin Park, Trim, peacefully at her daughter’s residence in Rathmolyon on 2nd October last. Aged 79, she was the wife of the late Charles (Charlie) Foylan, a retired Army Company Sergeant who died in March 2002. Mrs Foylan was a keen gardener and took pride in the appearance of her gardens, which earned her a Tidy Towns award for best small garden in 1978. Deceased loved being around people and enjoyed the local social scene very much. Devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her son, Michael, Cherryvalley Rathmolyon; daughters, Mary, Manorlands, Trim and Colette, Cherryvalley, Rathmolyon; brothers Paddy, Griffin Park, Trim, Jim, Haggard Street, Trim; sister, Rosie, Haggard Street; sons-in-law, Paul, Cherryvalley, and Jimmy, Manorlands; daughter-in-law, Grace, Cherryvalley; grandchildren, great grandchildren and relatives. The funeral Mass took place in St Patrick’s Church Trim, attended by a large number of mourners, a testimony to the esteem in which deceased was held by all. Burial took place afterwards in St Loman’s Cemetery, Trim. A months mind Mass will take place on Sunday 7th November at St Patrick’s Church, Trim at 12.30pm. ____________________________________________________________ Mary Carroll, Navan The death has occurred of Mrs Mary Frances Carroll, Gainstown, Navan, aged 89 years. Daughter of the late William and Teresa Sherlock, she was married to Dr Tom Carroll, who predeceased her. She is survived by her brother, Patrick; sister-in-law, Monica, both Gainstown; nephews, Ben Gough, Ranelagh, Dublin, Martin Gough, Shannon, William Sherlock, Australia and John Sherlock, Gainstown; nieces, Ann Reid, Lytham, Mary Sherlock, Navan and Ita Sherlock, London; grand nephews and grand nieces; relatives and friends. A Requiem Mass took place in St Mary’s Church, Streatham, London, followed by cremation. A funeral Mass took place in St Mary’s Church, Navan on 11th October last, followed by burial of ashes in St Mary’s Cemetery, Navan. ____________________________________________________________ Rosaleen Browne, Mornington Mrs Rosaleen Browne (65), of Green Acres, Mill Road, Mornington, who has died, was a member of the Kirwan family from Clogherhead, Co Louth. She passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, on 4th October last. Deceased is survived by her husband, Frank; sons, Martin and Darren; mother-in-law, Bridie; brother-in-law, Thomas; grandchildren, Lauren, Jane, Jessica, Gillian, Sophie and Luke; brothers, Pat and Noel; sisters, Elizabeth and Sr May; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. ____________________________________________________________ Maureen Meehan, Ardbraccan The death has occurred of Mrs Maureen Meehan, Coolfore, Ardbraccan, aged 84 years. A native of Grange, Bective, Navan, she was a member of the McLaughlin family. Deceased is survived by her husband, John Joe Meehan; family, John, Kathleen Hoey, Helen Englishby, Christopher (Kit), Noel; daughters-in-law; sons-in-law; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister, Stella, UK; relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Mary’s Church, Navan, to St Mary’s Cemetery, on 27th September last. ____________________________________________________________ Doreen Dignam, Navan There was widespread sadness following the death of Mrs Doreen Elizabeth Dignam (68), of Woodlands, Navan, on 6th October last, at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. Mrs Dignam was a former employee of Meath County Council and was involved in amateur dramatics in her early years. She was a much respected employee of Tara Mines until her retirement, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A native of Ardmulchan, deceased was daughter of the late William and Sara Moran, and is survived by her daughters Arlene, Doreen and Olwyn Dignam; sons, William and Alan; brothers Matt, Derry and David Moran; sisters, Olivia Lawless and Noelle Cassells; nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great granddaughter; relatives and friends. The funeral took place from the Church of the Assumption, Yellow Furze, Beauparc, to the adjoining cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Eileen Rogers, Kells There was great sadness over a wide area at the recent death of Mrs Eileen Rogers, Whitecommon Cottage, Moynalty Road, Kells at the age of 74, at her home. Originally a member of the Hannon family, she was a native of Ballivor and later lived in St Brigid Villas, Navan. She trained as a nurse in England and returned to work in Ireland at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan and, until she retired, at Woodlands Nursing Home, Trim Road, Navan. Deceased is survived by her husband, Sean; sons, John, St Brigids Villa’s, Navan and Barry, Blackcastle Demesne, Navan; daughter, Carol Kiernan, Hermitage Glen, Kells; son-in-law, Harry Kiernan; sisters, Annie, Mary and Sr Agnes; brothers, Jimmy, Pat, Simon, Bill and Tom, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Her remains were removed to St Mary’s Church, Navan and the funeral took place to St Mary’s Cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Moses Hill, Tierworker Mr Moses Hill, Killagriff, Tierworker, Kells, who has died, was well known in the country’s showjumping arenas as he bred and trained many good showjumpers over the years. Mr Hill passed away on 8th October last, aged 82, at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. A native of Shercock, Co Cavan, he was son of the late Moses and Margaret Hill, and married Helen Pringle on 21st April 1954, subsequently taking up farming in Killagriff. Deceased developed a great love for horses and bred and trained many equestrian winners over the years. Due to failing health some years back, he retired from active farming. Mr Hill is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Wesley, Killyman, Dungannon, Co Tyrone; daughter-in-law, Jean; grandchildren, Avril, Denver, and Lorraine; brother, John, Curravilla House, Shercock; sisters, Bertha and Doris, Lisburn, and Olive, California; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral service took place in Ervy Presbyterian Church with burial afterwards in Brakey Churchyard. Donations, if desired, can be made to Kells Presbyterian Church, c/o Clarke’s Funeral Directors, Bailieboro, Co Cavan. ____________________________________________________________ Josephine Rochford, Trim and Kildalkey Mrs Josephine Rochford, Cloneylogan, Kildalkey, who has died aged 75, was a member of the Farrell family, Trim, and had lived previously at Wellington View, Trim. Affectionately known to family and friends as 'Mammy Jo’ she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Deceased is remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed her gardens, carefully tended to by her husband, Jim. She is survived by her husband; sons, James, Dermot and Paul, all Trim; daughters, June Rayfus, Trim, Anne Kelleher, Charleville, Cork, and Linda Forde, Corballis, Kildalkey; daughters-in-law; son-in-law; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; grandchildren; great grandchildren; relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Patrick’s Church, Trim, to St Loman’s Cemetery. A month’s memory Mass will take place on Sunday 14th November at 11am in St Patrick’s Church.
