M3 predictions now come true
Dear sir - The oral hearing into the siting of the proposed M3 motorway was held in the Boyne Valley Hotel in Drogheda 10 years ago. I attended that hearing as I was then a Skryne resident and it was pointed out that there was an area between Lismullin and Garlow Cross that was notorious for low lying fog and that it would be extremely dangerous to have a motorway running as proposed through that area. The motorway has only recently opened and we have already had a fatality. At the same hearing it was pointed out that projected numbers using the motorway were grossly exaggerated. I now understand that the taxpayer is now supposed to pay millions in compensation because these numbers are not going to be met. Is anyone in this country ever going to be held responsible for making wrong decisions and/or drawing up ridiculous contracts? Yours, Seamas Farrelly, The Boulevard, Grange Rath, Drogheda.
