Top comedy line-up at the Lantern
Backroom Laughs returns to the Lantern Bar in Navan on Saturday 30th October headlined by John Lynn, featuring support from some of the country’s top comic talent. Within months of starting stand up Lynn appeared on TV screens in RTE’s 'Liffey Laughs’, a remarkable feat for a newcomer. In the past couple of years he has appeared on the BBC’s 'One Night Stand’ and was a highlight alongside Tommy Tiernan and Jon Kenny on TV3’s 'The Third Policeman’s Ball’, celebrating the work of Flann O’Brien. This year alone he’s appeared on RTE’s 'The Craig Doyle Show’ and RTE Storyland’s 'Butchers’. He is the now the first choice as an opening act for PJ Gallagher. Lynn is a previous winner of 'Bulmers Nuttin’ Butt Funny’ Award, Ireland’s premier comedy prize. He’s also appeared at the majority of prestigious comedy festivals worldwide, from Montreal to Edinburgh. Support acts include Foil, Arms & Hog, a comedy sketch group. The group won Best Newcomer at the Capital Comedy Club last year and enjoyed successful debuts at this year’s Electric Picnic and Carlsberg Comedy Carnival. The line-up is completed by American Kevin Lockard, who won this year’s prestigious ComedyDublin Comedian of the Year award . The youngest performer at this year’s Edinburgh Festival, Conor O’Toole, will also perform a short spot. Monday Night Soccer’s Alan Gernon will again provide the MC duties. Tickets are available for €10 from The Lantern and E-Two Music, with pre-purchase of tickets advised. There are some great prizes on offer for fancy dress.
