A further jobs boost came with the recent opening of the 'Sally’ salon supplies store at Kennedy Place where 10 new jobs were created. The opening of Smyth’s Toys Superstore will create 20 new jobs and the new Pamela Scott store will bring six jobs, a total of 36 new jobs for the town. Smyth’s will opens its doors on Saturday at 9am. The chain now has over 20 stores throughout Ireland and caters for children from infant to teens - stocking all of the major toy brands, plus a wide selection of outdoor toys and computer games. “Smyths Toys Superstores is delighted to open its doors to the people of Navan who, I am sure, will be pleasantly surprised by the enormous range of toys on offer for all ages and at the most competitive prices around. The new store will open seven days a week and, from now until Christmas, it will be open weekdays until 11pm. Meanwhile, Irish-owned retail group Pamela Scott will open its new store in Navan Town Centre tomorrow in the units that were previously occupied by Budget Travel and the Motorsport shop. Both units have been combined to create a store of just under 2,000sq ft. The refurbished store will offer popular casual and smart-casual brands such as Gerry Weber, Bianca, Olsen, Not Your Daughters Jeans and Ruby Rox. This will be alongside a wide variety of cocktail and evening wear and a full range of fashionable accessories. Shoppers in Navan can also look forward to seeing for the first time the new autumn winter collections by best-selling brands Twist, Sophie B and Zapara - brands that are exclusive to Pamela Scott. Renowned stylist and TV presenter Lisa Fitzpatrick from Ireland AM and Xposé, among other programmes, will be in-store in Navan between 12 noon and 4pm tomorrow to provide shoppers with style advice. On Thursday of last week, Sally, the UK and Ireland’s largest hair and beauty specialist retailer, opened its new store in Navan at the Charter Buildings, Kennedy Place. The new 1,600 sq ft store, which employs 10 people, is the second of its kind in Ireland and a continuation of Sally’s investment in the country. The store will stock 3,000 hair and beauty products under one roof, providing customers with inspiring style solutions to maintain their look in between salon visits. The specialist needs of hairdressers and beauticians in the local area will also benefit from a tailored professional section under the company’s Salon Services brand. The store will be managed by John Philpott and his son, Alan, who have over 30 years’ experience in the hair and beauty business. Local councilor Suzanne Jamal said: “I very much welcome this news given the current economic climate that we are in, when every day all across the country we hear of businesses closing their doors. I look forward to visiting the new store and wish John, Alan and staff best wishes in their new venture.”
