Trim Active Retirement group celebrates its 25th birthday

Trim Active Retirement group recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a function in the Castle Arch Hotel, Trim. The celebration began with Mass, which was concelebrated by Bishop Michael Smith, local PP Fr Sean Henry and Trim CC Fr Mark Mohan, and was followed a social evening with dinner and dancing. Four of the original members of Trim Active Retirement - Kathleen Kearney, Katie O'Connell, May Rowland and Mollie Rispin - were honoured at the function and a presentation of flowers was made to them. Trim Active Retirement has approximately 100 members, ranging in age from 55 up to 98. The group meets every month for a social and the 'Monday Morning Club' meets every week in St Patrick's Hall for bingo, keep fit, cards and a cup of tea. There are also several weekends away throughout the year. New members are always welcome to join and those interested can contact Ann Murtagh on (046) 943 1792 for more information. Trim Active Retirement will hold a fashion show in the Castle Arch Hotel on Wednesday 24th November at 7.30pm. The show will feature fashons from local boutiques and the models will all be members of the group. Trim Active Retirement members are working with transition year students from Scoil Mhuire in Trim and hope to have seven younger models from the school to join the older models on the night. Meanwhile, the group will enjoy a celebratory Christmas dinner in the Castle Arch Hotel on Wednesday 15th December.
