Vehicles targeted by car thieves in Trim

Trim Gardai are investigating a spate of break-ins to cars in the town in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 10th November. Eleven cars were targeted, with various items taken for five of the cars, including a motorcycle helmet, motorcycle boots and a leather jacket, a steering wheel and airbag, and driving licences. Six other cars were damaged but no items were taken from these vehicles. Four of the break-ins were at Victorine Abbey, four at Abbey View and three at De Granville Court and are believed to have occurred between 2am and 7am. The Scenes of Crime Unit from Navan Gardai examined the vehicles and DNA evidence has been taken from some of the vehicles. A number of people in custody at Blanchardstown Garda Station were interviewed in relation to the break-ins as part of a wider operation. Separately, two people were arrested and interviewed in Leixlip Garda Station in relation to a spate of car break-ins in Beechcroft, Elm Grove and Cherry Court estates in Summerhill last week. They were released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the case. Nine cars were broken into and six cars had property stolen from them. Kilmessan Gardai are investigating a burglary at a house at Ringlestown, Kilmessan, between 7pm and 11pm on Thursday 11th November. The house was ransacked and a 15-inch flat screen television, and a safe that was empty, were taken. Two youths who had hoodies covering their faces were seen acting suspicously in the area on CCTV. A 99 D red Fiat Punto was also seen in the area at the time of the break-in. Gardai are appealing to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time to contact Kilmessan or Trim Garda Stations. Enfield Gardai are investigating a burglary at the Big Bite takeaway on Main Street, which was broken into in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 9th November. Two males wearing hoodies were captured entering the premises on CCTV. Entry was gained by forcing a rear door and a quantity of coin cash was stolen from a games machine on the premises. CCTV pictures have been examined and Gardai are appealing for anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact them. Enfield Gardai are also investigating a burglary at Clongiffen, Longwood, on Saturday 13th November between 12 noon and 2pm. The house was ransacked but Gardai had no details as yet on what items were taken.
