There was widespread sadness following the death on 13th October last of Mr Michael Stephen O'Flaherty, Kilgraigue, Maynooth, at Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown. Aged 75 years, Mr O'Flaherty was son of Michael and Kitty O'Flaherty and a native of Castlegregory, Co Kerry. The family moved to Meath on 13th March 1946. He was a dairy farmer for 51 years. Very involved in church and parish activities, deceased was a golden jubilarian member of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association. He was a tremendously supportive neighbour and friend to all. Mr O'Flaherty played football with the old Kilcloon club, and then with Drumree, and was a member of the Drumree team that won the Junior Championship of 1959, the first adult title won by that club. A special jubilee celebration of that team in 2009 saw Pat 'Red' Collier of the opposing St Patrick's team make special presentations to the surviving members in the Castle Arch Hotel, Trim. The 1959 junior final took three games to produce a winner, and Drumree players also included A Walsh, T Rattigan, J Murray, P Brien, W Byrne, L Byrne, PJ Rowley, B Brien, S Doyle, W Rattigan, P Doyle, P Sullivan, T Troy, L O'Brien and J Walsh. Mr O'Flaherty was a great supporter of the Blackhall Gaels GAA club in Kilcloon-Batterstown. He is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Fahy); family, Olive Humphreys; Aidan O'Flaherty; Mary C O'Flaherty; Michelle Flynn; Eileen Moen; and Ashling Kelleher; sisters, Nora Lynch, New York; Sr Peggy O'Flaherty, Zambia; Joan Smyth, Philadelphia, USA; and Sheila Vitale, New Jersey, USA; daughter-in-law, Assumpta; sons-in-law, Clive, Dermot, Ciaran, Patrick; 12 grandchildren; brother-in-law, Christy Foley, Dunshaughlin; and in-laws in the Fahy family; relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Oliver Plunkett's Church, Kilcloon, to the adjoining cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Susan Cahill, Moynalty The sudden death of Mrs Susan Cahill, Lossett, Moynalty, Kells, at the age of 69, was the source of shock and sadness in Moynalty and her native Either, Virginia. Mrs Cahill was a member of the Caulwell family of Either, Virginia, and wife of Mr Peter Cahill. She will be remembered as a kindly neighbour and good friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her, including her many card playing friends. Deceased is survived by her husband, Peter; her sister, Mary; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. The funeral took place on 12th January last from St Bartholomew's Church, Munterconnaught, to Castlerahan Cemetery, celebrated by Fr Francis Kelleher, PP, Munterconnaught; Monsignor Michael Cooke, PP, Belturbet, and Fr John Cooney, PP, Kilmainhamwood. A month's memory Mass takes place on Sunday next, 13th February, in Munterconnaught Church at 10am. ____________________________________________________________ Patrick O'Neill, Kells The death occurred on 13th January last of Mr Pat O'Neill, Headfort Woods, Kells, and formerly of Seymourstown, Carnaross, Kells, aged 82, at his residence. Mr O'Neill is survived by his wife, Gene; family, Garry, Brendan, Patrick, Eoin, Eleanor, and David; son-in-law, daughters-in-law; and 14 grandchildren. The funeral took place from St Colmcille's Church, Kells, to St Colmcille's Cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Martin Vahey, Martry The regretted death occurred on 19th January last of Mr Martin Noel Vahey, Martry, Kells, at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan. Aged 61, deceased was a native of Killasser, Swinford, Co Mayo, and was well known to many as an employee of Fortune Motors for many years. He had a great interest in sport, especially greyhound and horse racing. Mr Vahey also enjoyed visiting friends in his native Mayo, including in Killasser and Foxford, and liked to spend some time at the shrine at Knock. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Deceased is survived by his mother, Mary K Vahey, Martry; sisters, Mary Ball and Kathleen Mulvany, both Martry; brothers, John, Navan, and Jim, Dublin; aunt, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral took place from Cortown Church to Martry Cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Martin Cribbin, Clane and Navan TherE was widespread sadness following the unexpected death on Thursday 9th December last of Mr Martin (Murt) Cribbin, at his residence, Railway Street, Navan. Aged 52, deceased was a native of Capdoo, Clane, Co Kildare, and started working in Navan in 1993 as a skilled worker in a local meat factory, going on to work in a number of businesses in Navan over the next 17 years. He was a keen GAA and horse racing fan and was often to be seen in Croke Park and Leopardstown with his friends. He will be remembered by a wide circle of friends in Navan whose lives he touched. Son of the late Larry, Mr Cribbin is survived by his mother, Rosie; brothers, Lar, Peter and John; sister, Mary; brother-in-law, Tommy; sisters-in-law, Olive, Jennifer and Monica; nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, relatives and friends The funeral took place from the Church of St Patrick and St Brigid, Clane, to the Abbey Cemetery, Clane, and may people travelled in poor weather conditions to attend, for which the family is very grateful. A month's memory Mass will be held in St Mary's Church, Navan, on Sunday 20th February at 1pm.
