Catherine Yore (Fine Gael)

Catherine Yore was first elected to Meath County Council in 2009, topping the poll in the Kells electoral area. She is 26 years-old and a native of Carnaross. She holds a Bachelor of in Education degree and works as a primary school teacher in Whitecross National School, Julianstown. A daughter of John and Carmel Yore, Cllr Yore grew up in a farming family and believes that the farming community has been severely challenged by government policy to date. If elected, she says she would like to see greater investment in Irish farming, which supports 250,000 jobs, and which could be the engine of economic growth. She also believes that education has been badly neglected by the current government and that a Fine Gael government is the only way of safeguarding investment in education. She is a talented musician and sports enthusiast, having played for her local GAA team in Carnaross. She is a member of Macra na Feirme, Meath VEC and the North-East Pylon Pressure campaign committee. Cllr Yore says she would like to see a greater representation of women and young people in the Dáil and is delighted with the chance to contest the general election on behalf of Fine Gael in Meath West.
