Dominic Hannigan (Labour Party)
Senator Dominic Hannigan is the Labour Party general election candidate for Meath East. He lives in Dunshaughlin and his full-time constituency office is in Ashbourne. Senator Hannigan has a Masters Degree in Finance and a Masters Degree in Transport and Planning. He is a civil engineer and a member of Engineers Ireland. A graduate of UCD, he is a past pupil of St Mary's Diocesan School, Drogheda, and attended Cushenstown National School. He entered politics in 2004 when he was elected to Meath County Council and was elected to the Senate in 2007. In the 1980s, he was forced to go abroad to find work. It is little surprise, therefore, that one of his main concerns is that of job creation. He feels very strongly that people should not be forced to leave Ireland to find work and recently hosted a series of job creation seminars throughout Meath. In addition, Senator Hannigan has undertaken work and published reports on a number of topics, including life in the commuter belt, youth facilities, education in Meath and life in rural Meath. He has put reports of his work on his website, www.dominichannigan.com
