Royal visit to Athboy!
Dear sir - The whole country have spent several weeks discussing the coming visit from the English queen, but I can tell you: Just forget it, it is too late. She has already been here! The Queen attended Athboy's St Patrick's Day parade accompanied by Prince Philip (who had problems keeping his place BEHIND her), Prince William and his bride to be, Kate, who showed the people in Athboy what her wedding dress looks like. Great stuff. So, if Buckingham Palace needs a stand in for any of them, just call Athboy. We have what is needed - and you won't be able to see the difference!! Again the town's committe pushed the boat out to give the town the best of the best: There was everything you could ask for. Just mentioning a few: A lot of different musicians, scarecrow, latest design in hats, by Ann Bird, called the apple-front, a big stack of cardboard boxes made by the committee behind the stable project. I thought the place was going to be a farmer's market and not a storage place! Sorry John. Mr Bird as the waving queen. He had a real royal wave! Tidy Town telling everybody about the upcoming car boot sale. Old and new tractors. Energy saving equipment, eye tests, and more. The streets were packed with people of all ages, enjoying the show and the sun. It was a good day for everybody in town, even for a 'blow-in' like me. A great thank you to the committe and all those who made the effort to entertain us all. They have done it again - put Athboy on the map. Yours, Lis Rix, Gandon Court, Athboy.
