Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham...return to Slane 30 years after seminal concert.

Reeling in the years as the boys are back in town

Thin Lizzy will return to Slane Castle next month for the 30th anniversary concert, which will be headlined by Kings of Leon. A reformed Thin Lizzy have been confirmed in the line-up for the 28th May concert. The first ever Slane rock concert featured Thin Lizzy and U2 in 1981. Other support acts now confirmed include Elbow, White Lies, Mona and The Whigs. Having sold every ticket in under 40 minutes, Kings of Leon will be making a triumphant return to Ireland to headline the 30th anniversary of Slane. 'Come Around Sundown', the band's fifth studio album, has sold over six million copies worldwide, as well as breaking the record for biggest first week digital album sales with over 49,000 album downloads. However, returning to Slane will mean more to Thin Lizzy than anyone else. It was they who began the road to where Slane is today back in 1981. Many years have gone by since Phil Lynott passed away, but the reformed Thin Lizzy still retains all of its vibrancy and influence. A new line-up has formed to take Lizzy's music to a whole new generation of music fans. Mercury Music Prize winners Elbow's new album 'Build A Rocket Boys', was recently released to great critical acclaim ,taking the number two position in the charts. White Lies' debut album, 'To Lose My Life', debuted at number one in the UK Albums Chart. With one hit album under their belt, they followed this with their latest offering, 'Ritual', in January. Nashville's Mona have taken the music world by storm over the past year and are already shortlisted for the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll and are winners of MTV Brand New for 2011. Their self-titled debut album will be released shortly. The Whigs' new album 'In The Dark' has earned them universal praise as one of America's finest young rock 'n' roll bands. Oasis were the last band to headline the iconic Slane venue in 2009.
