Carrick too strong
Carrick Rovers captured the NECSL u-16 cup with a stylish performance against a hard-working Trim Celtic side at the MDL, Navan on Saturday morning. The Monaghan boys did all the spadework during the opening half when they hit Trim Celtic for three without reply. Adam Waller scored twice and Cillian Leegan also hit the target as the Carrick dictated in all sectors although Trim Celtic showed great character and kept battling. Trim were rewarded after the break when an Aaron Winters shot was adjudged to have crossed the line despite protests from Carric Rovers. Despite their best efforts subsequently, Trim Celtic were unable to make any further impression and Carrick Rovers were worthy winners.
