Programme of events for Bealtaine festival revealed
Meath County Council's Arts Office has unveiled a varied programme of events to celebrate this year's Bealtaine Festival. During the month of May, active retirement groups, nursing homes and arts groups across Meath will celebrate creativity in older people through the festival and, this year, the programme includes theatre and music in venues across the county. The renowned Carnation Theatre Company is bringing its specially devised play 'Noah's Wife Missed the Boat - She left the Washing Out!' to Meath for four performances. An amusing short play interspersed with music and song, it promises to be a real treat and will take place in retirement homes, libraries and community centres. 'Musical Memories' is a continuation of the Arts Office partnership project with the National Concert Hall, bringing live classical music performances by four professional musicians to older people. This programme is led by Meath cellist Grainne Hope and will include popular classical pieces, ballads and songs. Throughout the month, they will perform in five libraries, including Navan and Dunboyne, and one retirement home. All events are free of charge.
