New transport website launched in Ratoath

An online solution for people who need goods transported but do not have access to a van or truck has been created by a 30 year-old freight forwarder living in Ratoath. Transbid.ie is being launched by Kevin Blake, who describes it as "an exciting new venture". It goes live on Saturday 3rd September. As he launched his new business last week, he said: "It may be something as small as a lamp needing to be delivered from Meath to Wexford, or a full house move from Donegal to Kildare. A lot of people will go online searching for delivery or removal companies and accept the first quote they get. They don't know if the person is trustworthy, reliable or if they have been offered the most competitive price on the market. Depending on where the item is being collected and delivered to, it may be difficult to find somebody in that geographical area. "I came up with the idea when my mother-in-law bought some furnitue off adverts.ie website, but when it came to the transport, it was too expensive. She asked me could I help her out, which I did as my backround is logistics, but I thought there must be a lot of people out there in a similar position." The website is simple and easy to use. Kevin Blake said: "The concept is simple and that's what we are aiming for. The average person who doesn't know much about computers or internet should find it straightforward to use our product The user inputs the details of the item they need transported, advising details of the piece, such as the amount of pieces, the weight and the dimensions. "They can also upload a picture of the goods they need moved to make it easier for transport companies to quote. Transport companies who are registered with Transbid can now quote for this business. The user should receive a few quotes, and could save up to 75 per cent. The user will also be able to see the transport company who is quoting and his customer service history." The innovative website will also benefit transport providers, as they may be returning from Cork to Dublin, for example, every Friday, having made their regular delivery there, and are coming back to Dublin with an empty truck. By using Transbid.ie, transport providers can regularly check in to see what new jobs have been inputted, and if one suited them, they could bid on this job very cheaply as they are returning from Cork to Dublin anyway.
