Private Keogh's grandnephew says thanks
Dear sir - Sunday 4th September was a proud day for my family and I as a plaque was unveiled at Oberstown Cross, Skryne, in memory of Private Patrick Keogh, my grandfather's only brother who died as a result of an engagement with executive pro-treaty armed forces at Oberstown on 15th August 1922. I would like to thank the groups and the individuals who supported us and made this event possible: The Department of Defence and our armed forces especially Commandant Hugh Coyle, Navan, and Captain Tony Brady, Kells, and from the Army School Of Music, Sergeant Douglas and Sergeant O'Driscoll; Minister Shane McEntee and the offices of Damien English TD, Meath County Council planning department and the Navan area members of Meath County Council with a special thanks to Independent councillor, Francis Deane; Larry Whelan for the use of his wall and power supply, the members of Skryne and Rathfeigh parish choirs with a special thanks to Jimmy Grey and Helena Gibbons; members and friends of Navan Ceoltois, Skryne GFC and a special thanks to the O'Brien family, Cabragh, Tara; Rathfeigh Historical Society and the Skryne Hall committee.
