Meath to face Louth next weekend
Meath will open their 2012 Leinster SFC campaign with a tricky assignment against Wicklow following last weekend's draws for the provincial championships. Wicklow lost to Kildare in this year's Leinster SFC, but showed plenty of ability in the All-Ireland SFC qualifier to almost cause a shock against Armagh before eventually losing out in a replay. Provided Meath negotiate Wicklow they will then face Luke Dempsey's Carlow with the prize of a Leinster semi-final against either Offaly or Kildare at stake. "Getting Wicklow in a preliminary round is a decent draw for Meath, but we certainly won't be taking anything for granted. If we are good enough then we have a chance of getting a few games in the Leinster SFC, but Wicklow have to be respected," McEnaney told the Meath Chroncile. "We are concentrating on improving our strength and conditioning at the moment, but Wicklow have been decent over the last few years and when the championship comes around they will be tough enough," he said. As part of Meath's preparations for next year McEnaney will get an opportunity to run the rule over his players when they compete in the Gaeil Colmcille-promoted Fitzsimons Cup at Pairc Tailteann on Saturday 22nd October. Meath will take on Louth in that competition at 7.0 and that game will be preceded by Armagh against Cavan at 5.30. The winners will meet in the final the following weekend.
