The regretted death occurred on 8th December last of Mr Thomas (Tommy) Cahill, Grange Bective, Navan, aged 83. He was a native of Parnell Park, and passed away less than six months after his wife, Jane, who died on 26th June last. A gardener, deceased was known for his association with Bective Gaelic Football Club, and was a fan of the Tottenham Hotspurs soccer club in London. He is survived by his family, Paddy, Gerry, Dom, David, John, Dessie, Brian, Mark, Paul and Stephen; daughter, Martina; son-in-law; daughters-in-law; 31 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. The funeral took place from St Mary's Church, Navan, to Cannistown Cemetery. _____________________________________________________________ Patricia Clarke, Ballivor The death of retired school teacher Mrs Patricia Clarke, Donore, Longwood, at her home on 14th December, created widespread sadness. Aged 84, she was a native of Longwood and was a member of the Murtagh family, one of a family of six that went to the local national school. From there, she cycled daily to secondary school in the Convent of Mercy, Trim, sitting her Leaving Certificate in 1945, with just two other girls. She went on to become a national school teacher, working in Clogherinkoe, Co Kildare, and Dangan and Coolronan in Meath. She met Patrick Clarke and they were married in July 1959. Deceased was very active in Longwood ICA, and also participated in community organisations in Ballivor. She loved being part of the Ballivor Horse Show, the Pioneer Centre and was a Minister of the Word in St Columbanus' Church, Ballivor. At home, she enjoyed crosswords and baking, and like her late husband, was a great follower of Meath Gaelic football. Predeceased by her husband, Patrick, in November 2009, Mrs Clarke is survived by her daughters, Karen Fox, Beaufort, Navan; Martina Cordial, Troytown Heights, Navan; Sandra Clarke, Donore, Longwood; Jean Kearns, Riverstown, Co Sligo; son, Richard Clarke, Ballivor; sister, Joan Dixon, Longwood; grandchildren, Amy, Gavin, Alison, Andrew, Mark, Conor, Caoimhe and Roisin; brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, relatives and friends. The funeral took place from the Church of St Columbanus, Ballivor to the new cemetery, Ballivor. A month's memory Mass takes place there on Sunday 15th January at 11.30am. _____________________________________________________________ Shay Wolohan, Duleek There was widespread sadness following the passing on 27th December last, at his residence, of Mr Shay Wolohan, The Belfry, Duleek, aged 64. A native of Portrane, deceased was a retired nurse of St Ita's Hospital, Portrane. He is survived by his wife, Anne, Duleek; sisters, Sadie Brown and Ethel Rogers, both London; and close friends, Anne Leonard of Skerries and Fran Greene of Rush; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, relatives, friends and caring neighbours. The funeral took place from St Cianan's Church, Duleek to the local cemetery. _____________________________________________________________ Michael Gilligan, Oldcastle There was considerable sadness in Oldcastle and district following the passing on 13th December last of Mr Michael Gilligan, who farmed at Loughbawn, Oldcastle. Aged 88, he was a native of Loughbawn, and died at Sheelin Nursing Home, Mountnugent. He was predeceased in 1995 by his wife, Bridget, and is survived by his daughter, Monica Griffith, Loughbawn, son-in-law, Jimmy Griffith; grandson, Cathal Griffith, and his wife, Regina, Loughbawn; brother, Bartle, Ballintogher, Dromone, Oldcastle; sister, Eileen Farrelly, Martinstown, Collinstown; and sister-in-law, Catherine Gilligan, Ballintogher. The funeral took place from Moylagh Church to Moylagh Cemetery.
