Danger junction to get traffic lights in €1.75m spend

An extensive €1.75 million programme of work for Navan, which includes 31 housing, road, footpath and traffic-calming projects, has been agreed by Navan Town Councillors. The money will be spent this year on projects that include the provision of the traffic lights at the Beechmount Shopping Centre/Trim Road junction and the refurbishment of houses at St Bridget's Villas, St Ultan's Terrace, Flower Hill Crescent and Abbeylands Crescent. A further €1 million will also be spent on the new town park in Navan, on which work began last week, the March monthly meeting of the council was told last week. The council will spend €200,000 from its own rescources on refurbishing houses at Flower Hill Crescent, St Ultan's Terrace, St Brigid's Villas and a further €50,000 will be spent on the windows and doors programme in Abbeylands Crescent, while €70,000 will be spent on the walls in front of houses in Ashbrook Estate. A sum of €681,000 will be spent on footpath improvement works at Athlumney Road, Carriage Road, Dan Shaw Road, Old Athboy Road, Old Johnstown Road and Swan Lane.
