Dara Ó Briain to head comedy line-up at Trim's Swift Festival
International Irish comedian Dara Ó Briain will be among a host of comic talent set to descend on Trim on Saturday 7th July for the Swift Festival's comedy day. O Briain will be undertaking a world tour at the time, but is making his way to Trim for the annual Swift Festival which runs from 5th-8th July and will open the comedy day gig. Festival director Barbara Nestor said: "It's fantastic to have Dara as our opening act for the festival this year. He'll be kicking off a really exciting day full of comedians and satirists. "We're holding this year's comedy gig in a fantastic marquee in the grounds of Trim Castle. "Throughout the day, Ireland's leading comedians such as Barry Murphy (Aprés Match), David McSavage (The Savage Eye), the entire Republic of Telly gang and George Hook will entertain the crowd with a selection of 20-minute acts. "The line-up this year is phenomenal with over 20 comedians appearing throughout the day. We're starting with Dara " Briain at 1pm sharp and the gigs should last until 7pm. After that, we'll have our Comedy Night gig featuring Barry Murphy as MC, David McSavage, the Nualas and Meathman Joe Rooney from Killanaskully." Once again, the Swift Festival will be running a series of free and fun family day activities. There will be the usual bouncy castles, market stalls and face-painting. Ms Nestor added: "Throughout the weekend, we're also showing some of the funniest comedies from the last few decades in our mobile cinema, which will be located in the car park in Trim Castle Hotel."
