Charity cycle passes through Navan

On Monday 9th July, Antrim man Martin Brennan and colleague Hugh Logue will be passing through Navan in a cycle fundraiser for the NI Children's Hospice. They will be leaving Antrim on 7 July and cycling round Ireland, passing through each of the 32 county towns. Over the following nine days they will be covering approximately 1,200 miles, an average of 130 miles per day, no mean feat! After leaving Antrim, the first day will see them passing through Belfast, Downpatrick, Dundalk, Armagh and finishing 143 miles later in Monaghan. Martin, who has been a keen cyclist for many years, admits this will be a huge challenge but while the muscles ache and the hills seem endless he will be spurred on by the thought that he is raising valuable funds for the benefit of the NI Children's Hospice. The Children's Hospice provides care for children and young people with conditions Muscular Dystrophy and life-threatening conditions such as cancer and heart disease. These children have very complex needs, often requiring 24 hour care. Many will die before adulthood. The hospice provides respite and end of life care for these very special children, young people and their families, both in the children's hospice at Horizon House, Newtownabbey and in their own homes.
