Heroes' welcome awaits
The people of Meath are preparing to give a belated heroes' welcome to Meath's two Olympians, with a reception planned for Ratoath on Sunday evening. There was delight across the county last Wednesday when Cian O'Connor took the individual showjumping bronze medal on Blue Loyd 12, and again on Sunday when Natalya Coyle's stunning performance saw her finish ninth in the modern pentathlon at her first Olympic Games. Both be honoured at Sunday's ceremony, which will take place in Ratoath at around 8.30pm. Organised by the Ward Union Hunt and Tattersalls, the event will take place in either the centre of the village or at Tattersalls, with the venue to be confirmed later in the week. Ratoath-based Cian O'Connor has described his London Olympic adventure as a "truly magical experience", while Natalya Coyle remarked that it was "a dream come true".
