Lost Brothers to support Hansard in US

The Lost Brothers, Oisín Leech from Navan and Mark McCausland from Omagh, are releasing their third album The Passing of the Night, on 24th September and will tour as special guests to open for Glen Hansard on his upcoming US tour. They play on Tuesday, 18th Sept Boston, MA, Berklee Performance Center, Wednesday, 19th September Washington, DC, 9:30 Club, Thursday, 20th Sept Philadelphia, PA, Union Transfer, Saturday, 22nd September Cincinnati, OH, Taft Theater, Sunday, 23rd September Atlanta, GA, Buckhead Theater, Tuesday, 25th September St. Louis, MO, The Pageant, Wednesday, 26th September Lawrence, KS, Liberty Hall, Friday 28th September Milwaukee, WI, Pabst Theater, Saturday 29th September Minneapolis MN First Avenue, Tuesday 2nd October Vancouver BC, Vogue Theater, Thursday 4th October at the Crystal Ballroom Portland Oregon and at The Fillmore in San Francisco California on Saturday 6th October. The Passing of The Night will be released on Brendan Benson's Readymade Records. The album, which was produced by Benson of the Raconteurs, is their US debut. In 2011 they were invited by Benson to open for the Raconteurs on some Irish shows. "Talk soon turned to recording and a plan was hatched for Brendan to record a song or two for the Lost brothers in his Nashville studio. "With the wealth of songs The Lost Brothers brought to the session, and the rate in which Brendan was laying them down, they all quickly realized that what started off as a bit of fun had turned into an album". Brendan Benson also played bass, drums, backing vocals on the album which also includes Nashville musicians; Gill Landry of Old Crow Medicine Show on double bass, accordion and banjo, Brad Pemberton of The Cardinals on Drums, percussion, Paul Brainard of M. Ward on Pedal steel, banjo and trumpets and Andrew Higley of Ben Folds on Piano, musical saw, pump organ and keys. The group of musicians became known as the Lost Brotherhood and also includes Zach Casebolt- Fiddle, Dominic Leslie- Mandolin and Neil O'Neill - Percussion The Lost Brothers describe their sound and music as an entirely new genre called "Cosmic Swamp." Oisin says: "With Brendan's help, we recorded the songs onto two inch tape in lightning speed while a tornado blew outside the studio," they explain. "Some songs turned into David Lynch nightmares while others sound like a New Orleans band way after midnight falling from the bar." The Lost Brothers first met in in Liverpool in 2007 and share the same love of music (from the Carter Family to Sam Cooke, Mississippi John Hurt to Dion and the Belmonts, Phil Spector to the Louvin Brothers, the Impressions to Van Morrison, and before long, were jamming together in bars of Liverpool when not on the road with their other bands. They went to London and started their own label, Bird Dog Recordings, on which they released the first album Trails of the Lonely in November 2008. NME gave the album 8/10 and called it "Otherworldly." They released their second album So Long John Fante last November. The songs on The Passing of The Night include; Not Now Warden, Bird In A Cage, Send Me Off To Sleep, Far Side, Now That The Night Has Come, Widow Maker, Tumbling Line, Blinding Glow, Blue Moon in September, Hey Miss Fannie and Until the Morning Oisín reflects on the recent gig at Tara Rocks on Saturday 25th August. "We were meant to play at Tara Rocks last year but it didn't work out. I went out anyway, to hear the music and had a blast. Mark and I were very excited to play the festival this year". He adds that "you couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting for a festival, to be at the foothills of the Hill of Tara in August with Damien Dempsey headlining, and what a great singer he is. We're delighted they asked us to play! "We're played a few festivals out of Ireland this summer but it's the local ones I love the most. It's always good to have a post-match analysis in Birmingham's bar when all the work is done!" The Lost Brothers have appeared on television on a number of occasions, including on Other Voices on RTE 2, and TG4. "A representative of the Other Voices team kindly asked us to play at the Tall Ships Festival in Dublin on 24th August". The Lost Brothers recently played at International Festivals in the UK as well as at home. In June, they played at the Westport Festival of Music and Performing Arts and at Beggy's Bar, Navan, as part of the Solstice Arts Festival. They also played at the Tall Ships Festival 24th August on the banks of the river Liffey. They performed at the End of the Road Festival in North Dorset UK on 1st September.
