Armed robbery at Blackcastle Post Office

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at Blackcastle Post Office in Navan this morning (Thursday), where a shot was fired. Two men entered the post office just before 11am wearing helmets and demanded cash from staff. A shot was fired into the ceiling. It is understood that nobody was injured. The raiders made off with an undisclosed sum of cash. They left the scene at speed on a blue motorcycle in the direction of the Slane Road. They got into a waiting blue Audi A4 a short distance away which crashed in the Hayestown area. From there, it is understood they escaped on foot. Blackcastle Post Office closed after the incident and for the remainder of the day. Anyone with information is asked to contact Navan Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
