Trim council 'unlikely to survive'
Trim Town Council is unlikely to survive Minister Phil Hogan's cull of local authorities, Fine Gael council member Gerry Reilly said this week. At the monthly meeting, Cllr Reilly was responding to a query from Fianna Fail's Ronan McKenna as to whether there was any news on the proposed reform of local authorities planned by the government. Cllr Reilly said that the question of Trim Town Council had been asked in the corridors of power, and that it was unlikely that Trim would survive. "If Trim was to be left untouched, it would make the minister's plans unworkable across the board," he commented.
