Down Royal double for Meade

Noel Meade continued his good run of form with a double at the opening two-day Down Royal meeting this afternoon. Nina Carberry partnered Apache Stronghold to a winning debut in the concluding Archie Watson Memorial Bumper while Paul Carberry was on board Monksland which won the grade two hurdle, the feature race. Monksland, third to Simonsig at Cheltenham last March won at 4/5 and was quoted at 33/1 for the World Hurdle at the 2013 Cheltenham Festival Meade is now on 24 winners for season.
