Rally supporting Navan hospital on Saturday
The organisers of a major public rally in support of services at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, this Saturday say they are expecting thousands of people to attend. The monster rally, which will begin at 1pm at the Navan Enterprise Centre on the Trim Road, will progress through the town to the entrance of Pairc Tailteann at Brews Hill where several speakers are expected to address the crowd. Third Age Active Retirement, Order of Malta, the staff at the hospital, Tara Mines workers, Meath River Rescue, SIPTU, the ICA, Parkvilla FC, Jigsaw, the Foresters' Brass Band, the Dundalk Hospitals Campaign, The Drogheda Cottage Hospital Campaign and Medilink Ambulance Services, among others. The campaign has lined up speakers from the medical profession, the nursing profession, patients' representatives, and from Labour, Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and Sinn Fein to address Saturday's rally in the town. Traffic disruption can be expected throughout the centre of the town from lunchtime onwards and a number of streets will be closed. The march will follow a route from the Trim Road to Brews Hill via the Fair Green, Ludlow Street and Trimgate Street.
