New faces for Meath
Meath manager Mick O'Dowd will hand debuts to Caolan Young, Cormac Rowe, Stephen Crosbie, Michael Newman and Dalton McDonagh in Sunday's O'Byrne Cup opener against Longford in Ballymahon, 2.0. Four of those five newcomers featured during the recent Fitzsimions Cup games against Cavan and Offaly, while Na Fianna's McDonagh scored a goal during last weeks SF challenge draw with Down in Newry. Injuries and college committments have deprived O'Dowd of 15 players, but those absentees have offered great opportunities for some of the younger members of the panel to impress. The Meath team for Sunday's game v Longford is - Davy Lyons (Seneschalstown); Caolan Young (Summerhill), Donal Keogan (Rathkenny), Davy Dalton (Summerhill); Cormac Rowe (Syddan), Eoghan Harrington (Wolfe Tones), Stephen Crosbie (Drumconrath); Conor Gillespie (Summerhill), Joe Sheridan (Seneschalstown); Paddy Gilsenan (Oldcastle), Damien Carroll (Ballinabrackey), Jamie Queeney (Na Fianna); Dalton McDonagh (Na Fianna), Peadar Byrne (Ballinlough), Michael Newman (Kilmainham),
